At this summer's National Order of the Arrow Conference, the OA Alliance hosted the first-ever Alumni Day: a special day of program just for OA alumni and their families, which allowed them to experience the highlights of NOAC.
Starting with a social hour and gear pick-up, attendees had a first chance to purchase OA Alliance merchandise before it hit the trading post shelves. After orientation, Alumni Day attendees explored NOAC program offerings, including The Goodman Edson Observatory (also known as the OA museum), affinity spaces for groups like ArrowPride, and other experience-based booths. After a group lunch, alumni attended the OA Alliance Alumni Day Reception.
At the reception, featured speakers Chris Grove, chair of the OA National Committee, and Clint Takeshita, chair of NOAC, spoke about their history within the Order of the Arrow program and what mechanisms can continue to engage and re-engage young people. After the remarks, alumni and members alike enjoyed fellowship over refreshments.
After the reception and more time to explore NOAC program, alumni experienced the evening show with thousands of NOAC delegates and staff. Finally, alumni and other members met for additional networking and fellowship, meeting new friends and reconnecting with old ones.
Overall, the OA Alliance hosted a comprehensive, fun and engaging program for alumni who enjoyed the highlights of NOAC. If you were unable to attend, there will be opportunities for engagement at the 2023 National Jamboree and the 2024 NOAC.
