Q: Ray,
If a person is selected for the Vigil Honor by the Vigil nominating committee but passes away before they are called out or they complete the Vigil induction, are they considered a Vigil Honor member? If not, can the lodge still recognize them as Vigil?
Thank you,
David
A: David,
Thank you for your question. In order to be considered a Vigil Honor member one must actually experience the Vigil process. This is similar to a member who is elected for membership in the Order of the Arrow but does not complete their Ordeal. They too are not considered a member. Being selected by the youth is an important first step, but not sufficient to be considered as having completed the Vigil.
I hope this helps you.
Ray
