Q. Ray,

What do you recommend to do when a lodge adviser is being nominated for the DSA? Who should sign on the line marked lodge adviser?

Steve

A. Steve,

Thanks so much for the question.

My thought is to permit the Scout Executive to select an appropriate volunteer to sign in the lodge adviser's absence - given the lodge adviser is the nominee. In some councils this may be an associate lodge adviser, a vice president of program, if the lodge adviser falls under them within the council's organizational chart, or the council president.

Bottom line: any reasonable appropriate volunteer should be acceptable as determined by the Scout Executive. I appreciate the fact that our nomination form‎ enables input from both professionals and volunteers.
