Last winter, Section NE-6A kicked off a new and exciting training event called #LEAD, merging the concepts of social media and OA leadership. The event challenged participants to learn, explore, advance and develop leadership skills. The inaugural event took place at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Joppa, MD, with 138 participants. This event was jam-packed full of useful trainings on a variety of topics including Journey to Excellence and a course on understanding the new Brotherhood Ceremony.
Instead of just trainers from their own section, NE-6A invited top-notch Arrowmen from around their section to expand the expertise of the staff. There were multiple guest trainers from around the nation too that came out to lend a helping hand. Those guests included National Vice Chief Donnie Stephens, Northeast Region Chief Matt Bell, as well as current and past section officers from both the Northeast and Central Regions.
“Instead of another ‘section seminar,’ ‘conference,’ or any other generic name for our training weekend, we picked #LEAD… it’s a name you won’t easily forget,” NE-6A Section Chief Zach Sager said. With social media’s popularity at an all-time high, this event name brings leadership to the 21st century. With so many useful trainings and activities, all benefiting our brothers in the northeast, it is safe to say that #LEAD was a #success and, to no one’s surprise, the event will be back in 2016.
