Letter from the National Chief

The Office of the National Chief

Arrowmen,

As I write this first letter, I am so excited to connect with all of you and provide a window into the actions and initiatives of our national leadership. By authoring these letters, I hope to keep all of you connected with our four officers as well as our national committee at large.

With each of these letters, I will share a moment from an event I visited that marked my experience or struck a chord with me. Recently, I attended the Section E20 Conclave in Goshen, Connecticut. My travel on the way there was almost entirely uneventful, but after a luggage mixup, I lost my entire suitcase in New York City.

This event was quite humbling, as I showed up to the Conclave with nothing more than the shirt on my back and the patches in my book bag. Yet, in a heartbeat, Section E20 showed me the purest form of brotherly love. One lodge specifically - Half Moon - truly lent me a hand in my time of need. When they noticed that I was not wearing my usual uniform, they asked what had happened, and after a brief explanation, they examined their lodge trading post and picked out a few pieces to support my severely limited wardrobe.

While this act may seem small, it meant the world to me. The love that we share as Arrowmen can come in so many forms - it may be a donated shirt or a life-saving kidney transplant. I encourage all of you, as you enjoy the rest of your summer (and NOAC 2024!), to show someone around you for a sign of your love each day. While it may be a small act for you, it could be unimaginably significant for them.

In just under two weeks, we will gather at the University of Colorado in Boulder to celebrate our Order and its high ideals. I encourage all of you to spend each day preparing for this conference, not only by packing, but by thinking of your brothers in your local lodge, chapter, and unit. Recall the challenges and successes you have faced at a local level, and bring these observations with you to our National Conference, as we strengthen the Order to continue to succeed for years to come.

I look forward to seeing all of you in Boulder!

Yours in Cheerful Service,

David Gosik
