Nischa Achowalogen Lodge of Section SR2-3N has recently begun to utilize a new telecommunication tool to reach its members, called Remind.
The lodge has been utilizing Remind to send out weekly reminders of meetings and events. This has also be incorporated into smaller chapter settings, where it has boosted member participation, according to Lodge Chief Ryan Fletcher. The service is free and has additionally been used during weekend events as a means for onsite communication.
Remind originated as a professor to student one-way communication tool, but was modified to suit the needs of organizations. The lodge has found it to be a great texting service to keep members informed about upcoming meetings and events.
"It's aimed at every member, not just youth," said Trent Stephens, the lodge secretary’s adviser. Additionally, he noted that the system allowed for sublists for the LEC, or even individual chapter members, which eased communications.
As young people have turned towards social media and telecommunications, it is only logical that lodges embrace the technology shift. After just six months of using this strategy, the lodge has noted a considerable increase in member participation as well as overall awareness of what’s occurring within the Order.
Other chapters and lodges that are interesting in utilizing these types of services can find more information on Remind’s website.
