The Guide for Staff Advisers was created to provide, in a single publication, key information to help staff advisers and Scout executives to be successful in their role. This guide includes important excerpts from many other OA documents including The Field Officers Guide and The Guide to Officers and Advisers in order to give the staff adviser an idea of what is expected in the Order of the Arrow. It is arranged into five chapters each pertaining to different scenarios that a staff adviser will face at the various levels of organization within the Order of the Arrow: chapter, lodge, section, and region.

This guide started development in May 2011 and is a handy, concise reference that can be used by a new staff adviser or Scout executive to understand his/her role in the Order. It can also be used by continuing staff advisers and Scout executives as a reference when specific needs arise.

This guide was made for Scouting professionals to understand the strong similarities between OA staff adviser roles in the chapter, lodge, section and region with a particular focus on the staff adviser's role within the lodge. It will enable all staff advisers to effectively do their job and inform Scout executives of the place of the Order of the Arrow in Scouting.
