As lodge chief Anthony Paldolfo looked over his Arrowmen having fun throwing Frisbees in an activity, he could not help but think about how he and his leadership team began planning the event four months before.
Paldolfo serves as chief of Ga-Hon-Ga lodge of the Revolutionary Trails Council, which lies in the upper regions of New York state. This past January, the lodge held their fourth annual winter fellowship, called Moosefest, at Camp Russell in Woodgate, NY. Almost sixty Arrowmen attended this year's event, participating in fun activities such as snowshoeing in the backwoods and a KanJam tournament. A KanJam game involves aiming and deflecting a Frisbee into a can, which is something native in this region of New York.
Not only did Arrowmen have fun, Moosefest also had its share of training and sharing of ideas when Paldolfo and his team taught new Ordeal members the traditions of their lodge and the Order of the Arrow, while Brotherhood members learned public speaking techniques and tips on time management. After a day of training and events, the lodge held a banquet Saturday night, inviting families of the Arrowmen to join. Brotherhood was certainly in the air as Paldolfo led the weekend with his team.
"It was really great to see Arrowmen be able to come together and have fun," said Paldolfo. "To see a brotherhood of Scouts in one place having fun with KanJam and snowshoeing is really awesome."
