Summer may be nearing its conclusion, but everyone can reminisce on the enjoyment of a quick dip in the pool on one of the season's hotter days. Arrowmen in Tahosa Lodge of the Denver Area Council sure did. During an event this summer, a group of OA members gathered at the Cool Creek Pool to cool off and share ideas about improving the lodge.
Arrowmen jumped off the diving board, relaxed in the sun and enjoyed an excellent barbecue later that evening. Pattie Nortman, the adviser for the event, said the day was full of brotherhood and cheerful service. While the youth continued to swim, the adults provided the service by handling the barbecue. The night ended with a cake provided by Tahosa Lodge. During the course of the fellowship, ideas were shared amongst Arrowmen and new ways to implement programs in Tahosa Lodge were discussed.
Planning for the "Summer Splash" started in early March, as Nortman and her youth chairman began brainstorming ways to make the event a success. Despite their planning, bad weather whipped up and threw a wrench in their plans. However, the group still had a great time.
The splash event has improved greatly from last year by continuing to rethink ideas of fellowship. The planning committee took the good ideas from previous events and turned them into even more innovative thinking this time around.
Does your lodge do something fun during the summertime?
