In 2017, the Order of the Arrow will provide extensive service to the 2017 National Scout Jamboree in an effort to #FuelScoutingsAdventure. Operation Arrow will call for over 750 Arrowmen to serve in three of the most widely-praised and fulfilling program areas of the jamboree: Indian Village, Service Corps and Trek Guides. Registration opened for youth and adult staff on October 1st, 2015. With our initial quota at 15 percent capacity, the marketing & promotions team will be ramping up their efforts as we enter into the new year. That is why this winter, the Operation Arrow Ambassadors program, a program for section and lodge level leadership, will be launched.

During December, sections will appoint one youth to be the Operation Arrow Ambassador for their section. Ambassadors will assist with recruiting efforts by serving as the key resource for Operation Arrow within their area, and coordinating promotional events at lodge and section events. Ambassadors will be an enthusiastic proponent of this opportunity to cheerfully serve Scouting, and will work closely with lodge and section leadership to ensure the success of this mission. They will receive a “toolkit” of promotional materials, as well as access to region and national level leadership for guidance on this endeavor.

Ambassadors will also have a unique opportunity to work with their section leadership to build recruitment goals unique to their section to ensure Operation Arrow Ambassadors are as effective as possible within their area. They will track their progress throughout 2016 on a “punch-card” similar to the Arrowman Service Award card that will be distributed to section leadership at the 2015 National Planning Meeting.

Once section chiefs, in conjunction with their section adviser, have identified their Operation Arrow Ambassador, please submit their name and contact info to the Google Form so they can be contacted with further instruction.

Operation Arrow Ambassadors are an essential component of the staff recruitment process. These youth leaders will work closely with a wide range of people across their section, and establish absolutely vital goals that will ensure the success of this lofty promotional effort. This high level of involvement will make it imperative that section chiefs thoroughly consider the selection of their ambassador, and understand fully how crucial it is to be successful in this endeavor.

Ambassadors will benefit from the opportunity to develop relationships with a wide range of dedicated servant leaders from their local area to the national organization, and receive special recognition following the conclusion of Operation Arrow.
