A letter to newly elected section officer teams:
Congratulations on your election as an officer within your section! This next year will be one of most memorable years in your Scouting career as you take on a leadership role during the Order of the Arrow’s centennial anniversary. As a section officer, you will be tasked with not only responsibilities to your section and the Arrowmen in it, but also the potential to work on the regional and national level as we continue to plan and eventually execute our exciting 100th anniversary programs. These events include ArrowTour and NOAC 2015.
Serving as your region chiefs this year, we will have the opportunity to work together very closely. Our role is to support you and your section, whether that be with day to day answers to questions, visits or promotional help. The bottom line? It’s our job to equip you with the tools you need to be as successful as possible while you serve your section over the next year.
One of the foremost ways we as region chiefs strive to equip the section leadership teams is through the yearly “Section Officers’ Seminar.” The weekend serves as an orientation of sorts for section officers. However, each yearly topic and theme differ, as do the themes from region to region, so come expecting to learn valuable and pertinent information to your section. Hours of thoughtful planning have gone into your respective region’s weekend, so we hope you will all arrive with an open mind, ready to learn how to better serve the lodges and Arrowmen in your section.
As you continue to read this special issue of the Section Sentinel, take note of the critical information and happenings of the Order that you should be aware of as a section officer. Take time to thoroughly read this email, and be on the lookout for more communications from the OA team.
We look forward to meeting you all in the weeks to come.
