On Wednesday, October 7th, 2015, the National Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America passed a resolution celebrating the centennial of the Order of the Arrow. Now your council can, too! The Order of the Arrow has issued a template that council executive boards can use to create and approve resolutions just like the one that the National Executive Board passed. The template provides local councils with the ability to show their support for the Order in light of its first century of cheerful service.

Like the National Executive Board resolution, the template references the founding of the Order, as well as its longstanding principles of brotherhood, cheerfulness and service. However, the local version of the resolution can be tailored to recognize lodges for their unique history of service. Space is provided for sustained service, such as that given by a lodge to a council camp, to be referenced, alongside the number of chiefs and advisers that have led the lodge during its years of service. Furthermore, lodge specific data can be interpolated to truly individualize the resolution, which encourages lodges to input a list of their Centurion Award recipients and other monumental stepping stones of the lodge’s founding as part of the resolution.

Alongside the fillable template, you can find an example of a completed local resolution template, which Wa-Hi-Nasa Lodge successfully passed in the Middle Tennessee Council. If you would like the Microsoft Word version of the resolution simply email @email. Now, it’s your turn! Work with your lodge and council leadership to prepare the resolution for the board to commemorate the OA’s centennial anniversary. 100 years of cheerful service are worth recognizing.
