2006 National Planning Meeting

The top priority of the 2006 National Planning Meeting was preparing for the National OA Conservation and Leadership Summit at Indiana University. Evan Chafee of Wiatava Lodge, San Juan Capistrano was elected National Chief and Larry Newton from Alibamu Lodge, Montgomery, Alabama National Vice Chief. Region Chiefs elected were: Don Hough – Central Region, Chad Wolver – Western Region, Kenneth Hager – Northeast Region and Alex Gomez – Southern Region.

2007 National Planning Meeting

The 2007 National Planning Meeting was among the most anticipated in years. Besides the national officer elections, this group was tasked with planning Arrowcorp5 and selecting the youth Incident Commander for each project. Jake Wellman from Yah-Tah-Hey-Si-Kess Lodge, Albuquerque, New Mexico was elected National Chief. Ben Stilwell of Gabe-Shi-Win-Gi-Ji-Kens Lodge, Okemos, Michigan was elected National Vice Chief. Region Chiefs elected were: Tyler Elliot – Central Region, Mason Thomas – Southern Region, Patrick Rooney – Northeast Region and Mark Hendricks – Western Region.

2008 National Planning Meeting

The 2008 annual end of the year National Planning Meeting was held in Dallas, Texas with the program of emphasis for the year being the "Power of One" and the 2009 NOAC.

Bob Mazzuca, Chief Scout Executive gave the keynote speech for the meeting. Jack O’Neill from Shawnee Lodge, St Louis, Missouri was elected National Chief. Dan Higham of Otahnagon Lodge, Vestal, New York was elected National Vice Chief. Region Chiefs elected were: Michael Beckman – Central Region, Ryan Hay – Northeast Region, Mark Norris – Southern Region and David Harrell – Western Region.

2002 National Planning Meeting

The annual end of year gathering of Section Chiefs took place in Dallas, Texas and although there was no NOAC to plan, there were two National programs of emphasis.

The first was Philbreak, a spring week at Philmont to help with conservation efforts after fires destroyed forestland in Philmont. The second event to plan was the first Indian Summer.

Nick Digirolamo, Seminole Lodge, Tampa, Florida was elected National Chief and Rich Moore of Ku-Ni-Eh Lodge, Cincinnati, Ohio was elected National Vice Chief. Region Chiefs elected were: Adam Enerson – Central Region, Ian Pinnavaia – Northeast Region, Mathew Griffis – Western Region and Frank McMillan – Southern Region.

2004 National Planning Meeting

With the increased role of the OA at Jamborees, the primary planning at the 2004 National Planning Meeting was related to the upcoming 2005 National Scout Jamboree. Patrick Murphy, Wipala Wiki Lodge, Tempe, Arizona was elected National Chief and Seth Mollitt of Echockotee Lodge, Jacksonville, Florida was elected National Vice Chief. Region Chiefs elected were: Paul Jensen – Central Region, Dan O’Rourke – Northeast Region, Bradley Long – Southern Region and Ross Armstrong – Western Region.

2005 National Planning Meeting

The annual 2005 end of the year National Planning Meeting had the primary responsibility of planning the 2006 NOAC set for Michigan State University. Sean Murray of Otahnagon Lodge, Norwich, New York was elected National Chief and Christopher Schildknecht of Ku-Ni-Eh Lodge, Cincinnati, Ohio was elected National Vice Chief. Region Chiefs elected were: Russell Bresnahan – Central Region, Jon Fuller – Northeast Region, Dustin Counts – Southern Region and Kieran Thompson – Western Region.

2000 National Planning Meeting

The highlight of the 2000 National Planning Meeting was the national officer elections. Don Cunningham from Susquehannock Lodge, Dillsburg, Pennsylvania was elected the National Chief and Scott Hunter from Tatokainyanka Lodge, Casper, Wyoming was elected National Vice Chief. Region Chiefs elected were: Dominique Baker – Central Region, Jason Kemp – Southern Region, Patrick Boyd – Northeast Region and Josh Gana – Western Region.

The major planning at this meeting was for the ever-increasing role of the OA at the 2001 National Scout Jamboree.

2001 National Planning Meeting

The National Planning Meeting was held in Dallas, Texas with the principal task for the Section Chiefs of planning the 2002 NOAC scheduled for the Indiana University.

Of the 47 Section Chiefs, 25 of them were candidates for national office. After hours of voting Clay Capp of Wa-Hi-Nasa Lodge, Nashville, Tennessee was elected National Chief and Riley Berg of Tah-Heetch Lodge, Fresno, California was elected National Vice Chief. The four Region Chiefs elected were: Brian Favat – Northeast Region, Nathan Finnin – Southern Region, Brian Herren – Central Region and Dominic Pascucci – Western Region.

1992 National Planning Meeting

The 1992 National Planning Meeting was called the Assembly of Chiefs. With no NOAC to plan, efforts were directed toward improving quality of lodge operations and planning the Arrowman Gathering at the 1993 National Jamboree. Brian Beaverstock of Tisquantum Lodge, Foxboro, Massachusetts was elected National Chief and Dameon Hutto from Tiak Lodge, Ellisville, Mississippi was elected National Vice Chief. New BSA region designations changed the number of region chiefs from six to four. The Region Chiefs elected were, Jeff Middendorf – Northeast Region, Joel Shapiro - Central Region - Mike Salazar, Southern Region and Ron Mahabir - Western Region.

1993 National Planning Meeting

The 1993 National Planning Meeting primary objectives were to plan the 1994 NOAC to be held at Purdue University and to elect the national officers. Scott Beckett of Nebagamon Lodge, Las Vegas, Nevada was elected National Chief. Kyle Tanner from Inali Lodge, Knoxville, Illinois was elected National Vice Chief. Region Chiefs elected were Kyle Brown – Central Region, Rob Berner – Southern Region, Jim Lewis – Western Region and Ryan “Zieak” McFarland – Northeast Region.

1988 - National Planning Meeting

The National Planning Meeting had become an annual end of year meeting between the holidays. Besides National officer elections, the 1989 50th anniversary of Philmont Trek was on the agenda. Jack Stephens of Chee Dodge Lodge, Flagstaff, Arizona was elected National Chief. Wade Herbranson, Tonkawampus Lodge, Maple Grove, Minnesota was elected National Vice Chief. Region Chiefs elected were Mark Belli – Northeast Region, David Bone – Southeast Region, Kevin Bokesch – East Central Region, Daniel Fee – North Central Region, David Herndon – South Central Region and Michael Southall – Western Region.

1987 National Planning Meeting

The Section Chiefs gathered together in the Dallas Area for the National Planning Meeting. Starting with this meeting, the National Planning Meeting would be an annual affair and all national and regional officers would serve one-year terms. National officers had served one-year terms in the early days of the Grand Lodge from 1921- 1926, but those were adult positions and only distantly related to the youth leadership positions. 

The primary reason why the meetings needed to be annual was the OA was and has been an ever-expanding program. More and more events were scheduled for non-NOAC years including increased participation in National Jamborees, High Adventure and Conservation.

Jeffrey Moser of Pellissippi Lodge, Knoxville, Tennessee was elected National Chief. Angelo Cappelli of Timuquan Lodge, St. Petersburg, Florida was elected National Vice Chief. Region Chiefs elected were John T. Gutkoski – Northeast Region, Skip Van Bloem – East Central Region, Chris Crews – South Central Region, James M. Alexander – Southeast Region, Steve Meinhold – North Central Region and Michael D. Celano – Western Region.
