Lodge Adviser Onboarding Program

The Lodge Adviser Onboarding Program is a dedicated initiative designed to support, prepare, and empower incoming lodge advisers as they step into one of the most important leadership roles in Scouting’s National Honor Society. Lodge advisers play a critical role in guiding and mentoring youth leaders, ensuring their lodge thrives. Stepping into this role can feel overwhelming, especially with the many responsibilities and traditions that come with it, which is why this program was developed to provide clear guidance, practical tools, and a strong network of support from day one.

What the Program Offers

The Lodge Adviser Onboarding Program is built around two core components:

  • Online Learning
    • A structured overview, delivered through online learning, of the lodge adviser’s key responsibilities including lodge operations, program planning, administration, and delivering a high-quality membership experience. The learning also highlights practical toolkits and resources available to help advisers confidently support their youth.
    • These trainings can be found at my.Scouting.org and are available to all advisers, new and experienced. These can be found in the training center under "Expanded Learning."
  • Mentorship
    • Every new lodge adviser is paired with an experienced mentor who provides personalized guidance, answers lodge-specific questions, and helps advisers navigate their new role with confidence.

By equipping lodge advisers with the right knowledge, tools, and mentorship, this program helps ensure that youth leaders receive the support they need and that lodges continue to deliver on the vision, mission, and purpose of the Order of the Arrow.
