Ever since the late twentieth century, conservation has been a focal point for our Order. Whether it has been through the local service projects that occur all throughout the United States, the various OA High Adventure programs we put on or even the monumental accomplishments made by the series of ArrowCorps initiatives that the OA has prided themselves on; Arrowmen continuously work to embolden our commitment along with the BSA’s commitment of making the world a better place one service project at a time. With this in mind, we are excited to announce that the BSA has just released a new conservation award for all Scouts and Scouters to earn!
The BSA Distinguished Conservation Service Award, is meant to encourage and recognize Scouting units and individuals who have taken the charge in contributing significantly to natural resource conservation and environmental protection. The BSA Distinguished Conservation Service Award will serve as the highest award in Scouting for exceptional conservation service. Individuals who receive this award will be awarded a certificate reflecting their accomplishments along with a square knot that they can wear on their uniform proudly! Here are the different award options associated with this award:
- Youth: BSA Distinguished Conservation Service Award
- Adult: BSA Distinguished Conservationist
- Organizations and Individuals: BSA Distinguished Conservation Service Award Certificate
This new award comes at a time in which the BSA also just recently announced a collaboration between the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) to produce a limited time EPA-sponsored award! These two awards are just further proof of the BSA’s commitment to respecting the outdoors.
